
Our Purpose
Housing Matters, Inc. is a non-profit
organization that believes in its mission to assist, support and
connect persons in need with housing matters; support and promote
families, neighborhoods and economic self-sufficiency; and to
partner with local agencies to expand the service to persons of low
to moderate income, including seniors and persons with disabilities.
Housing Matters, Inc. intends to successfully
execute their mission by focusing its resources on the following
five areas:

Housing Matters, Inc. is a non-profit 501(C)(3)
that was incorporated on February 3, 2004. Housing Matters, Inc. is
led by its CEO James A. Dewey and its three member board consisting
of Peter Eppley,
Michael R Bacheller and Tray Smith. The board meets
quarterly to discuss the business of Housing Matters, Inc. Housing
Matters, Inc. currently owns one single family home within the City
of Port Huron that rents to a qualified low income tenant.
Housing Matters Inc. in partnership with the
Port Huron Housing Commission has started a college scholarship for
residents of the Port Huron Housing Commission. The first recipients
will be selected in May 2018 for award prior to the start of fall
classes in 2018.
